Privacy Policy

Penny ("we", "our", or "the extension") is a Chrome browser extension that helps shoppers find cheaper alternatives, apply coupon codes automatically, and track price drops. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights.
What we collect
- Product data from pages you visit. When you click "Find Alternatives", Penny reads the product title, price, and image from the current tab. This data is sent to our server solely to generate alternative product suggestions and is not stored beyond the request.
- Search history. Alternatives you view are saved to your account (identified by a randomly generated ID stored in the extension) so you can revisit them in the History tab. No name, email, or personal information is attached.
- Coupon interaction results. When a coupon code is applied at checkout, we record whether it succeeded or failed for that retailer domain. No cart contents or payment information are ever read or transmitted.
- Anonymous usage events. We log anonymised events (e.g. "search started", "alternative clicked") to understand how the extension is used. These are tied to your randomly generated user ID, not to you personally.
- Wishlist items. Products you save to your wishlist are stored locally on your device using Chrome's storage API. They are not uploaded to our servers.
What we do not collect
- Your name, email address, or any account credentials
- Browsing history outside of product pages where you actively use Penny
- Payment, credit card, or financial information
- Any data from pages where you have not clicked a Penny button
How we use your data
Data is used exclusively to provide and improve Penny's features: surfacing relevant alternatives, applying coupons, and notifying you of price drops. We do not sell, rent, or share your data with third parties for advertising purposes.
Affiliate links
Product links in search results may be wrapped with a Skimlinks affiliate tag. Clicking a link does not share any personal information with the retailer beyond what a normal browser visit would.
Data retention
Search history is retained until you delete it from the History tab. Anonymous event logs are retained for up to 12 months.
Your rights
You may clear all locally stored data at any time by removing the extension or clearing Chrome's extension storage. To request deletion of server-side records, contact us at the address below.
